Welcome 2024!
2023 was a year for the record books. With the severe drought significantly impacting pastures, we had to feed hay to cows during grazing season for the first time in Viewlawn’s history. Despite the lack of moisture, crops were surprisingly enough to meet our usual feed needs. Even with the drought stress, our conception rates were very good, and our weaning weights came in on trend with our normal historical rates. Our harvest season was impacted for the better as we shut down every Friday night to attend Carter’s football games both near and far. We were excited to have the family time at games as they won the Minnesota Class AAA championship Thanksgiving weekend. A special thanks to Carter, our summer help, and our hired man, John Brink, for all the time they put into the farming operation. With a warm fall and December, we were able to catch-up with all the “regular work” plus many additional bonus projects. We are excited about this year’s selection of yearling bulls and heifers. Outstanding conception in our females, vigorous calves, and superior growth all in a docile package remains our goal that will in turn yield great results for you, our customers.
